If you like cars, the most interesting and fun event to take place at this time every year is the Wheels of Time Rod & Custom Jamboree.
In this its 45th year, Wheels of Time Jamboree returns to Macungie Memorial Park August 23, 24 and 25. This gathering of over 1,500 of the hottest, most vintage street rods, custom cars and trucks you won’t see on the roads today, unless of course if they’re heading to the Jamboree.
This year’s show will have something fun and interesting for the entire family. The event will feature Valve Cover Racing, Teeter Totter car balancing beam, boys and girl’s tractor pulls, the Flying Fuzz world’s fastest police motorcycle, Butch Patrick and The Munster Koach and the Dragula car, plus over 200 swap meet vendors and 100 craft vendors.
As always, the Car Corral returns where showgoers can make a deal on vehicles that are for sale along with car parts, accessories, model cars, press kits and owners’ manuals for older cars, and plenty more.
For entertainment, Ricky Smith and the Crush Band will play Friday (Aug. 23) at 7p.m., and on Saturday (Aug. 24) Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods return at 6:30 p.m.
In addition, and for the ladies, there will be Woman’s World with Bingo, arts and crafts, a gift basket auction, Arts and Crafts flea market offering an array of car jewelry, painted gourds and lots more.
And if you’re thinking of turning your vintage car or truck into one of these show vehicles, Borneman’s (www.BORNEMANS.com) a show sponsor located in Virginville, PA, does these customizations along with other restorations. And they will be at the show where you can inquire about doing your vehicle be it a car, truck or motorcycle.
Of course there will be food and beverages all three days and a nearby borough pool for the kids to take a dip.
Gates open at 7 a.m. each day and the show goes on until sundown but the music continues until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Spectator donation is $10 while children under 16 are free when accompanied by an adult. Handicapped wheelchairs motorized chairs are allowed.
The show also has a charitable side in that over the past years an average of $40,000 is given to local charities plus to the Wheels of Time scholarship program for young adults. To date, over $2,000,000 has been donated to local community organizations, awarded over 300 scholarships. This, plus Wheels of Time volunteers give countless hours of community support with cars for parades and events, they volunteer hours at fire companies and offer support for those in need.
